Feb 4 -7 - 2010 Alberta Winter Games - Winners

Zone 8 snowboarders had a great weekend participating in the Alberta Winter
Games the very first time that snowboarding has been an event in the Alberta
Winter Games.

Our local athletes brought home 2 silvers and a bronze.
Kennedi Deck silver in Boarder Cross and Bronze in Slope Style, in younger
girls category. Wade Snider silver in Boarder Cross older boys category. Brandon Cann
eliminated in the older boys semi finals and Jadon Duby eliminated in the
younger boys Semi Finals boarder cross. All riders were very competitive in
both events and represented Zone 8 very well. We were all very proud of all
of the Zone 8 Snowboarders performances.

Local riders Wyatt Larson and Steven Samson were call upon to ride for Zone
5, both riders performed very well and showed excellent sportsmanship
rideing for zone 5.

A huge thank you to Arnold Wiebe, Randy Sims and Shantell Lengwenus for
their dedicated coaching and to Chuck Duby and Jolene Deck for chaperonning
the riders this weekend.
